Best Motorcycle tyres maintaining practices

When it comes to motorcycle the most important part of them is finding the best tyres and of course at the cheapest price. Bikes unlike with the 4-wheel vehicles have only 2 points of contact with the ground and those two points keep them safe so it is better off to invest in proper tyres before anything else. It is just as important to properly maintain those tyres so let’s see how to know and read what they are saying.

The best way to keep your tyres safe

First and foremost make sure they are properly inflated. If they are not that will cause them to get damaged quicker than they should. Soon enough you are going to be required to get new tyres. Instead of spending tons of money and time on that activity you might just regularly inspect the inflation of the tyres with a simple pressure gauge that costs around $10 bucks. The pressure gauge is showing PSI (Pressure per Square Inch) and it is the most accurate and cheap way to check your tyrse pressure.

Make sure you are using two same tyres. Many people get two different brand tyres because the general information is the same. Meanwhile, they don’t know that the tyres are engineered in such a way that they work best with their own brand. Now while that is true since the read tyre is getting worn out way quicker because of the usage you can change only it if necessary. It is not required to change both of them at the same time. This as well is a very expensive option and this advice only can save you a lot of money. Simply said – you don’t match different tyres, but you can match the same brand tyres with a different age.

What does the tyre says

130/90 – 16 69 H

130/90 – The first one is section width in millimeters, the second aspect ratio in percent – 90%

16 – The diameter of the rim in inches

69 – Load index (325 kg = 69 load index)

H - Speed index (210kph = H speed index)

That’s how you understand the basic language of your tyres.

It is interesting as well to find when the tyres were manufactured. In order to find that out you need to look for four number that looks like that – 2317. This means 23th week of 2017.

Longer live for your tyres

While maintaining your tyres inflated is good it is definitely not enough. One thing else that you need to check especially if your tyres get worn out quite easily and unusual is the tyres alignment. The alignment means the wheels are turned in the same direction and they are not going against each other. This will prevent the need to change your tyres very often while keeping you safe on the road.
